When I was child there was only one book
, " Back to Eden," By, Jethro Kloss.
I still have my raggedly old first edition
copy. I have been mixing herbs, vitamins
and poultices since I was ten years old.
Since then, I have read over 2,400 related
books and articles on the subjects of
alternative and conventional medicine.
I have also studied homeopathy, flower
essences, healing, hypnosis, and
accupressure therapy for seven years.
Aside from prayer, there are many
natural resources to help your body
to heal itself.

Dear Joanna,
Remember September the 11th
and over 3,000 people dying? Do
you know that over 5,000 people
die each day in the world from the
negligence of hospitals and
doctors? I learned this first hand
when counting statistics for my
research paper on world
medicine. There are a lot of good
doctors out there. I am studying to
become one myself. Even the
best doctors make mistakes no
matter if you are in a private
hospital or a county hospital. You
need to know as a patient what
your rights are. People need to
ask a lot of questions, do not
agree to just take the medicine
that a nurse hands you, demand to
check it first to make sure what
you are taking, the right dosage
and the known side effects. The
most common thing I have
witnessed are IV site infections.
Not everyone in the hospital
needs an IV. If you are awake and
you can eat, drink fluids and go to
the bathroom yourself, and you
are not taking medications thata
re required intraveneously,  you
can request not to have an IV
inserted and to take your
medications orally.  The second
most common failure I have seen
is the mishandling of medical
records and medical tests. You do
not have to take at face value an
initial blood test or any test for that
matter. If you are in doubt that a
procedure or test has yielded
questionable results, you can
assert your voice to ask for a
second opinion and/or second
test. Preferably by a different
hospital or clinic. Go on the
internet and search your doctor’s
name through malpractice
databases to see if that doctor
has been cited before for
malpractice. If you are going for
surgery also ask for the names of
all the doctors attending and the
anesthesiologist. You can look up
their names as well to make sure
you are in capable hands.

Alternative Health Feature:
Common Foods That Can Be
dangerous.

Potassium is a mineral that is
found in most foods. You need
some potassium to keep your
heart working as it should.
However having too much
potassium can cause your heart to
stop.

This month we will explore foods
that contain a high level of
potassium. When you eat too
much potassium it naturally raises
the blood pressure. It prohibits the
body from maintaining normal
blood pressure control. Eating too
much potassium can result a
diagnosis of hypertension, can
prohibit you from losing weight,
can facilitate a heart attack,
stroke, water retention, damage to
the liver and/or the kidneys. Signs
of your body having too much
potassium can include water
retention, not breathing well,
diarrhea and nausea.  Many of
you have asked me to create a list
of high-risk foods that must be
limited in your diet in order to
maintain optimal health.

Please limit these foods:

Tomato, celery, ketchup, tangelo,
apricots, bananas, dates, figs,
kiwi, melon, nectarine, oranges,
pears, prunes, asparagus,
avocado, beets, beet greens,
brussel sprouts, celery, cooked
chard, cooked chinese cabbage,
mushrooms, pumpkin, cooked
spinach, tomato juice, cooked or
canned vegetable juice cocktail,
white and sweet potato, winter
squash bran, bran products,
chocolate, coconut, coffee, dried
beans and peas, dried fruits have
more potassium than fresh or
cooked fruits, French fries,
granola, milk, molasses, peanut
butter and nuts, potato chips, Lite
Salt substitute,

Tip: If you are going to cook any of
the above vegetables , cut and
soak them in a bowl of water for
four hours before preparation, this
will help to drain out some
potassium. Drain rinse and then
drain again. Cook in a large pot of
water. Throw out the water before
serving.
